Academy Awards 2015

The Fabulous . . .

Gwyneth Paltrow in blush colored Ralph & Russo looked a little old for the dress. It would have been Fabulous on a younger person?

Lupita Nyong’o in a cream Custom Calvin Klein Collection looked Fabulous. The 6,000 beads that Francisco Costa, creative director for Calvin Klein were used beautifully.

Lady Gaga in a white custom Azzedine Alaia looked Fabulous. The only thing I would have changed would have been to leave the red gloves at home next time.   A side note: Gaga’s repertoire’ of The Sound Of Music was not only beautifully performed, it was also refreshing to see what an incredible vocalist she really is.

Reese Witherspoon in black and white custom Tom Ford looked Fabulous. The black and white gave her a look of sophistication and glamour.

Jennifer Aniston in a nude color Atelier Versace looked Fabulous as always. The fit was perfect and a new designer for her created her best look yet.

Jennifer Lopez in a nude color Elie Saab Couture looked Fabulous. She looked like a princess that was the Belle Of The Ball and the two and half million dollars of Neil Lane jewelry did not hurt at all.

Cate Blanchett in a black John Galliano for Maison Margiela looked Fabulous. The turquoise Tiffany necklace added a perfect splash of color.

Viola Davis in a pink Zac Posen looked Fabulous. The off the shoulder was a stunning choice for her.

Octavia Spencer in a mint Tadashi Shoji looked Fabulous. She proved a full figured woman does not have to look like a sofa.

Oprah Winfrey in a peach custom Vera Wang looked remarkably Fabulous. Another full figure woman proving they do not have to wear dresses that look like a couch cover.

Nicole Kidman in a custom sequin Louis Vuitton with a red belt looked Fabulous. Where has her waist line gone? Menopause must have hit with a vengeance and it wasn’t pretty.

Emma Stone in a chartruse Elie Saab looked Fabulous. The beading and open back was the perfect choice.

Meryl Streep in black and white Lanvin looked Fabulous. Alber Elbaz did the best look yet for this maturing actress with *19* nominations so far.

Julianne Moore in white Chanel Haute Couture looked Fabulous. The 80,000 hand painted sequins sparkled to perfection.

Jennifer Hudson (Chicago Girl) in yellow Romona Keveza looked Fabulous. Many do not look good in yellow but Jennifer nailed it to perfection!

Kelly Osbourne in black Rita Vineris looked Fabulous. The lace top and full skirt gave her the best look ever.

Patricia Arquette in black and white Rosetta Getty. Usually not a fan of one shoulder styles, however this one was an exception with its draping and detailing.

America Ferrera in green Jenny Packham looked Fabulous. “Ugly Betty” (we really miss that show) is now pretty, thank goodness and the red bag was too.

The less than Fabulous . . .

Solange Knowles in a red Christian Siriano did not look Fabulous. She had enough fabric to make several dress and all of them would have been just as ugly!

Scarlett Johansson in an emerald Versace did not look Fabulous either. The necklace was wrong for the dress in so many way but mostly, it made her look like she was choking.

Rita Ora in navy Marchesa did not look Fabulous. The crumb catcher neckline looked like a storage facility (?)

Keira Knightley in a floral Valentino Haute Couture also did not look Fabulous. She is pregnant and the yards and yards of fabric only made her look worse . . .

Felicity Jones in grey Alexander McQueen did not look Fabulous. This petite star looked overwhelmed in big dress.

As always, I’ll be watching . . .

Golden Globes 2015

Kate Hudson in a plunging, cutout halter dress by Versace looked over exposed and not quite as Fabulous as her intent. Her eye makeup exasperated her need for an upper eye lift.

Jennifer Aniston kept to her safe black in a Saint Laurent halter dress with a sequined bodice that was predictable and not Fabulous although safely Fabulous.

Reese Witherspoon in a strapless, beaded Calvin Klein dress and diamond jewels looked Fabulous as diamonds makes anyone look Fabulous.

Lupita Nyong’o dressed for the Globes in a purple Giambattista Valli dress and Chopard jewelry. The jewelry was Fabulous and the dress reminded me of a flower garden with a propensity for lavender.

Naomi Watts a vision in a strapless Lemon yellow Gucci column dress, cinched at the waist with an embellished belt. Diamond Bulgari jewels always completes a Fabulous ensemble.

Emma Stone wore a bow-cinched Lanvin jumpsuit with a Fabulous flair including a bedazzled bodice to add sparkle.

Jennifer Lopez trying to hard in a sparkling Zuhair Murad dress, complete with a plunging neckline, up-to-THERE slit, and a cape that resembled what batman would do for drag. Not Fabulous – not even for drag.

Jessica Chastain in a down to there plunging, Fabulous liquid dress by Atelier Versace. What’s with all of the side sweep hair tonight; not always Fabulous.

Emily Blunt flashed a peek of her flat tummy in a white Michael Kors with a crisscrossed bodice that looked like she was strapped after surgery, Not Fabulous. Aquamarine jewelry completed the dreamy or nightmare outfit.

Viola Davis with a Fabulous smile on the carpet wore a ruby red dress by Donna Karan. Fabulous Hollywood at it’s best.

Heidi Klum in a red-hot Versace number and matching peep-toed shoes, shows that you can still look Fabulous as you age.

Julianne Moore in a beaded Givenchy Couture dress, complete with feathers could not desire whether she was 50 shades of grey or a Fabulous bird.

Amy Adams wore a one-shoulder, periwinkle dress by Versace and Fabulous Tiffany jewelry. Not the best fit or look although the jewels fit Fabulously.

Kerry Washington wore a metallic dress boasting two shades of purple, both ugly and not Fabulous. Did they run out of one fabric??? and not even enough fabric to make a floor length gown???

Julianna Margulies in a red floral dress by Ulyana Sergeenko and Bulgari jewelry. Just when I thought you could not look matronly in red, she pulls it off although the jewelry was Fabulous.

Katherine Heigl in a navy blue Zac Posen dress, that was so tight she could not stand up straight. She did not look Fabulous; she looked like she was in Spanx.

Lena Dunham in a Zac Posen dress matching her red lipstick and looking like she made the dress, cut her hair as well as did her own color in the car on the way. She was not even close to Fabulous.

Julia Louis Dreyfus wore a one-shoulder white dress with a little sparkle on its bodice and Fabulous Irene Neuwirth jewels. Safe as usual.

Amy Poehler in a neon blue column dress by Stella McCartney showed every pound she put on during the holidays. Fabulous???, I do not think so.

Rosamund Pike showed post-baby body and ready to nurse in a white Vera Wang dress and Brian Atwood shoes. Really??? this could not have been more Un-Fabulous.

Christine Baranski wore a wine Zac Posen dress, with metallic clutch and chandelier earrings. She looked Fabulous. The only thing I did not like were the two hole at the top of the dress. Looked like you could use them to hold her in place.

Kelly Osbourne wore a midnight blue Edition by Georges Chakra dress with bell sleeves and an embellished collar. She looked so matronly and not Fabulous. She is on Fashion Police looking like this and she needs a Fashion Citation???

Giuliana Rancic wore a blush Maria Lucia Hohan dress and Fabulous Forevermark diamonds. She looks hungry.

Tina Fey wore Old ugly Hollywood in a two-toned Antonio Berardi dress and Casadei heels. If she had gotten up earlier, she could not have looked less Fabulous. She must have had a snack packed under that skirt.

Jane Fonda wore a one-sleeved Versace number, complete with the fashion house’s signature “pinned” embellishments along its cutout and proved that age is just a number. She looked Fabulous.

Claire Danes wore a feathered, floral Valentino dress and Fabulous Lorraine Schwartz jewels. She looked like she was fresh from the reservation.

Salma Hayek in a white brocade dress by Alexander McQueen, cinched at the waist with a silver belt looked Fabulous although older. Maybe time for a freshening. Feather-shaped diamond earrings and roses in her hair completed her look.

Catherine Zeta-Jones wore a strapless, blood-red Angel Sanchez dress and Fabulous H. Stern jewelry. She looked Fabulous. Where was “what’s his name???” she did not need him as an accessory.

Amal Alamudd, Mrs. Clooney was the image of grace in a Fabulous Christian Dior Couture LBD and white gloves, looking uptight and unapproachable.

And as always, I’ll be watching . . .

Treadwell’s Timepiece Trilogy Pt 2: Avon Strikes Back

The  watch on the far left is one that I purchased from Avon and inexpensive but business.

The second watch is a Fabulous take off a Tag. White and yellow metal make it versatile with whatever other jewelry I am wearing.

The third watch I do not remember where I purchased although still like the classic styling combination of a tank watch with a Rolex type bracket in black rubber.
The lower right is another inexpensive Avon watch with classic styling and a little bling.

The lower left is one of my favorites. A Swatch watch I purchased in the Swatch store in Time Square. It is a limited addition artist rendition featuring lots of color and print. A fun timepiece that bring a smile to my face every time I put it on and the occasional compliment when it peaks out of my sleeve. I have had a couple of incidents where the buckle on the brand broke however I was able to simply call Swatch customer service and have that piece replaced at no charge!

Kinky Boots – Don’t You Want a Pair???

On a recent trip to New York, a Broadway show was in order. I travel every week and scheduling down time is important for me for balance in my life. Kinky Boots had won awards and was a show I wanted to see so the day became available and a phone call later the tickets were waiting at “will call”.

I am glad I took this break and I am glad I choose Kinky Boots. I understand why this Fabulous play has won awards. The message that we are OK just the way we are was beautifully delivered in song and dance. This message is my message to myself daily although as with many, this message was a challenge to remember this day. Watching this Fabulous show brought laughter and tears. This is a must see for everyone. Not only was the show a traditional musical with song delivering the message, those delivering the message were less traditional. Fabulous Drag Queens sang and danced to perfection and in heels. Just go see it and let me know what you think

Kinky Boots were available for purchase and delivery in your size for $1500. They are Fabulous although I do not wear heels and it was a temptation for memories. I choose instead the poster signed by the entire cast and waited with anticipation to return home to have framed by Barry at LightHouse Framing in Vero Beach, FL. I have all my framing done by Barry with success although this time he out did himself. The framing is Fabulous and perfectly suits the poster. Gaudy and overdone, two things I think are Fabulous.

Go see Kinky Boots and buy a poster and have it framed by Barry. You will have no regrets and receive a message of acceptance and a piece of art that surpasses everything you currently have.

High Tea at the Drake Chicago, IL

High Tea is one of my all time favorite indulgences and I was not disappointed with High Tea at the Drake. The tradition, the attention to detail and outstanding service from Fabulous waiters assured pleasure of the experience. The experience is the pleasure and do not get me wrong the tea and food were Fabulous. I look forward to my next high tea, maybe the Plaza in NY???

Fun Fact:
Tom Cruise stayed at The Drake Hotel during the filming of “Risky Business”.

Treadwell’s Timepiece Trilogy pt. 1: The Classic, The Colorful and the Cheap

Over the years I have accumulated a number of Fabulous timepieces. Some were gifts, some were must-have additions to my collection and others were simply something I liked. Here are a few of those watches and a little about them.

The first you see here pictured on the far left is a Fossil watch I saw at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens.  Fossil is an American designer of clothing and accessories and also designs watches for other brands including Adidas, Burberry, Diesel and DKNY. The name Fossil represents the nickname the founding brothers,  Tom Kartsotis and Kosta Kartsotis, had for there father. Over the years Fossil has released a number of collectible watches based on movie characters, comic book characters and other pop culture icons.  In 2003, Fossil released a wristwatch computer called the “Fossil Wrist PDA” which was a tiny Palm OS-based PDA worn like a watch. In 2006, Fossil released a “caller ID” watch. The classic style of the one I chose with the updated materials made it the one for me.

Next up is a cheap watch that I ran across in an Avon book and liked! I ordered it and still enjoy it to this day.

Third we have one of my favorite watches. It is an Android watch with a very beautiful, not to mention fragile, ceramic band and case. Android was founded in 1991 by Wing Liang who had a strict philosophy to create high quality productions with cutting edge designs. In 1991 the company designed watches inspired by the American film industry and pop culture however, as time passed Wing’s growing awareness of trends in horology led him to choose more important movements and increasingly refined materials. This specific watch is special to me because it was given to me by partner Mark who purchased it for my birthday while living in Key West. It was purchased at Graffiti Menswear on Duval.

The fourth on the list is yet another cheap but goodie found in the pages of an Avon catalog. The rainbow colors of the numbers is a subtle way of coming out while checking the time!

Last but not least is a Fabulous Find from a Flea Market from many years ago. Wanting a Cartier watch early in life and not being able to afford one, I saw this Fabulous copy and still like the look to this day.

Be sure to “watch” for part 2 coming soon!

Wing Liang

Treadwell’s Timepiece Trilogy

Got the time? I’m sure I do! With the many Fabulous watches I have I am sure I can tell the time and still be color coordinated and fashionable! Stay tuned for an epic three part blog entitled “Treadwell’s Timepiece Trilogy” featuring the watches you see above with a brief history on each and what they mean to me.

Cleanse and tone skin. Do not moisturize. Wait two hours to allow skin to return to a normal state. Place six strips of tape on the following:

  1. Apply a strip of tape vertically from the scalp line to the bridge of the nose (in between the brows).
  2. Apply a strip of tape on the outside corner of each eye (where the crow’s feet would be).
  3. Apply a strip of tape across both cheeks, on the apple.
  4. Apply a strip of tape above the upper lip (like a moustache).

Press strips on skin. Remove tape, one at a time, and reveal skin agers:

Crinkly areas resembling thin line, such as roads on a road map, indicate dehydrated skin-skin lacking moisture. Lines are good indicators of where your skin will wrinkle if not moisturized.

Flakes on tape indicate dry, dead skin cells. This is due to not properly removing cleansing and/or makeup products as well as not exfoliating the skin on a regular basis. Start exfoliating.

Lines are an indication of deduction of collagen and elastin in skin cells. As we age, we produce less collagen and elastin. Add exfoliating to your skin care regime as well as anti-aging and/or skin firming products.

Vertical lip lines are caused from sun damage, smoking and/or pursing. Put an application of your eye cream over the top of the lip area, twice a day.

“X” marks the spot. To determine if your skin is sensitive, use a thumbnail, and gently make a light X between your eyebrows. If the skin redness remains for a while, your skin is sensitive.

Did You Know?

Our lifestyle affects longevity. Live with the dirt of a major city and add five years to your age. If crash dieting is your pattern, add ten years. Tan, either by nature or machine, you can add twenty years. Smoke easily adds more than twenty years.

Limited Louie

Texas born Robert “Bob” Wilson went psychedelic in 2002 when he conjured a series of Christmas windows for Louis Vuitton in a variety of bright, vivid colors. This inspired a collection of limited edition Louis Vuitton leather goods. These bags display the modified shape of the monogram. Wilson has been the only person authorized to modify the monogram.

2014 Oscars Who Wore it Best???

Lupita Nyuong’o looked like a prom queen in baby blue Prada. The
custom made head band had as much use as a jock strap for Chaz Bono.
Her past looks in tailored elegance were Fabulous and this one so close.

Jennifer Lawrence dressed safe in a red Peplum Dior Couture. She
looked pretty not Fabulous, at least when she is not falling, in a gown that
was mature past her years.

Amy Adams was dark and lovely in Gucci. Not the best color for the red
carpet and not Fabulous, just lovely.

Sandra Bullock looked dark and Fabulous in Alexander McQueen. The
dark dress had exquisite detailing of side drape with sweetheart neckline
was age appropriate and Hollywood star appropriate.

Cate Blanchett dressed next door to the event in a hotel and had no
wrinkles in her Armani gown unlike many of the others walking the carpet
looking like someone needed to steam their outfit. Beige is difficult to wear
and she did it the best. A Fabulous gown that had just a little of look what I
did in craft class or in her case, next door in the hotel.

Lady GaGa channeling Donnatella in this Fabulous Versace gown was
truly mama monster. The pink chiffon scarf should be returned to the dollar
store for a refund and take the wig back to wherever it came.

Anne Hathaway looked like she just got off of her Harley. A butch hair cut
and a studded Gucci gown made me look to see if I could spot her
girlfriend. Fabulous??? not so much.

Kerry Washington showed how a baby bump should be displayed. This
baby bump looked Fabulous in lavender Jason Wu.

Charlize Theron wearing minimal make up and no attention to hair wore a
Fabulous diamond necklace. The black Dior was unique to the night. No
one else wore a gown with handles on top of the bodice. It looked like you
could pick her up using Dior handles, who would have thought???

Kate Hudson wanted to ride the wave of dresses with capes. She looked
Fabulous in Atelier Versace although a couple of award shows late.

Julia Roberts must have been worn out in this busy black Givenchy.
Between the tuxedo top and lace insert and peplum, where does one
look??? She has done Fabulous although not this time.

Naomi Watts could not have looked more plain and safe. Puritanical,
white, boring, and not Fabulous, this Calvin Klein should have remained in
the convent.

Penelope Cruz must have been on the way to a Fabulous Toga Party and
looked ready to unwrap in Giamlattista Valli. This cotton candy pink was to
sweet to be Fabulous.

Camila Alves wife of Fabulous actor Matthew McConaughey must have
forgotten half of her coat. When your husband is receiving an oscar why
would you not check and see if you had both sleeves of your blush
Gabriela Cadena???

Meryl Streep was ready to park cars or wait tables in black and white. A
matronly Lanvin was not as Fabulous as her acting.

Kristin Chenoweth looked like a Fabulous oscar statue in Roberto Cavalli.
She is about the same height and the dress was the same color of thestatue and she resembled the statue a little to closely.

Anna Kendrick could not have looked worse if she tried. The shoes were
wrong, the hem was wrong, the little red dots were wrong, and the top of
the J. Mendel was ugly and one of the worse dresses of the evening. She
needs a Fabulous makeover from hair to toe.

Emma Watson won for most boring dress on the red carpet. Silver and
Black Vera Wang was wong not Fabulous.

Liza Minnelli in an old blue Halston that should have been buried with
Halston when he died look over medicated and under Fabulous.
