2016 Golden Globes

The Fabulous  –

Helen Mirren showcased her Fabulous physique in a black gown by Badgley Mischka which had a plunging sweetheart neckline with a mesh section. She is 70 and Fabulous, looking classy and appropriate. The necklace, the hair, and the smile were the perfect compliments to the best dressed of the night!

Jennifer Lawrence looked red hot and Fabulous in a red silk crepe gown with cutout details by Dior Haute Couture. This is how you do peek-a-boo and still look Fabulous.

Laverne Cox (“Orange Is The New Black”) looked Fabulous in an backless ivory dress with a fishtail train by Elizabeth Kennedy. Though my favorite color, I am so glad she did not actually wear orange on the Red Carpet.

Viola Davis twinkled in a Fabulous tulle ball gown with a plunging illusion neckline and cape flutter sleeves. She now looks like Hollywood and Fabulous.

Lady Gaga went for Fabulous Old Hollywood glamour in this Atelier Versace dress with an exaggerated hourglass silhouette. It did not appear she could breath in the gown. It is not about how you feel; it is about how you look and she looked Fabulous!

And those who Dressed In The Dark –

Jennifer Lopez in her marigold Giambattisa Valli dress, complete with a cape, Jimmy Choo shoes and 200 carats of diamond baubles looked like a squeeze bottle of mustard. This was not a good look for her as everything was yellow, her skin, her hair, and her dress. The jewelry was Fabulous and I am surprised she did not request the diamonds be canary, although glad she did not, to complete her look of yellow.

Rachel Bloom worked her Fabulous curves in a Christian Siriano dress, paired with Christian Louboutin shoes, a Salvatore Ferragamo bag and H. Stern jewelry. She tried, bless her heart, but needed to pull the dress up and put on another pair of Spanx or let a seam out.

Rooney Mara wore a Fabulously (?) distressed, blush gown by Alexander McQueen, paired with Fred Leighton diamonds and Jimmy Choo shoes. I do not know what happened but it appears she got her dress caught in a shredder.

Melissa McCarthy in a self-designed metallic dress with too much shine that highlighted her hourglass shape and her weight loss. A statement pendant, lace booties and an embellished clutch could not make this Fabulous. Next time leave it to the designers.

Julianne Moore glistened in a sequin, midnight blue Tom Ford dress with velvet borders, teamed with Chopard jewelry. She looked Fabulous although appeared mature and possibly chocking in her gown.

Queen Latifah tried in a mint dress with an embellished neckline, a collaborative piece from her own collection. She is not the best person to wear her collection, if this is an example. She did not appear comfortable and would have liked to be in her flannel plaid and doc martins to be Fabulous.

Jane Fonda arrived in a white, long-sleeve Yves Saint Laurent Couture by Hedi Slimane dress with a dramatically ruffled neckline. She looks Fabulous at her age or any age. It is a shame she decided to put her bed skirt around her neck thinking it would be Fabulous and it was not.

Cate Blanchett fringed and Fabulous, wowed in a blush Givenchy Haute Couture by Ricardo Tisci gown with semisheer embroidered panels adding Tiffany & Co. jewels. The gown would have been more Fabulously appropriate when she aged gracefully into her 80s.

Maggie Gyllenhaal wore a yellow and black lace Marc Jacobs gown with floral appliqués that would have been Fabulous for a couch, a chair, or a foot stool.

Kate Hudson flaunted her incredible body in a sparkling peach Michael Kors choker, bra top and skirt, adding Giuseppe Zanotti platforms. If you saw the back of the dress, she would have looked Fabulous if she had only worn it backwards.

Amy Schumer tried to look Fabulous in Prabal Gurung’s two-tone, off-the-shoulder silk faille high-low gown and missed. She looked short, wide and odd.

America Ferrera walked the carpet in a Fabulous canary-yellow Jenny Packham dress, paired with gold accessories and looked older than her years.

Alicia Vikander in a white mousseline Louis Vuitton dress with a crisscross back, teamed with shoes and jewelry by the same French fashion house. She tried to looked Fabulous and missed with a look of a machine wash and tumble dry summer frock.

Eva Longoria tried out bridal white in a George Hobeika dress with intricate beading, an open back and bow details that looked like her very own craft project that went too far with the bow top, belt, and beading from Michaels. If all of her handy work were removed, she would have been closer to Fabulous.

Jaimie Alexander took the plunge in a black Genny dress with green geometric details (and pockets!). She looked like Fabulous left over Christmas wrappings. She was able to rock Fabulous emerald earrings.
