Treadwell’s Timepiece Trilogy pt. 1: The Classic, The Colorful and the Cheap

Over the years I have accumulated a number of Fabulous timepieces. Some were gifts, some were must-have additions to my collection and others were simply something I liked. Here are a few of those watches and a little about them.

The first you see here pictured on the far left is a Fossil watch I saw at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens.  Fossil is an American designer of clothing and accessories and also designs watches for other brands including Adidas, Burberry, Diesel and DKNY. The name Fossil represents the nickname the founding brothers,  Tom Kartsotis and Kosta Kartsotis, had for there father. Over the years Fossil has released a number of collectible watches based on movie characters, comic book characters and other pop culture icons.  In 2003, Fossil released a wristwatch computer called the “Fossil Wrist PDA” which was a tiny Palm OS-based PDA worn like a watch. In 2006, Fossil released a “caller ID” watch. The classic style of the one I chose with the updated materials made it the one for me.

Next up is a cheap watch that I ran across in an Avon book and liked! I ordered it and still enjoy it to this day.

Third we have one of my favorite watches. It is an Android watch with a very beautiful, not to mention fragile, ceramic band and case. Android was founded in 1991 by Wing Liang who had a strict philosophy to create high quality productions with cutting edge designs. In 1991 the company designed watches inspired by the American film industry and pop culture however, as time passed Wing’s growing awareness of trends in horology led him to choose more important movements and increasingly refined materials. This specific watch is special to me because it was given to me by partner Mark who purchased it for my birthday while living in Key West. It was purchased at Graffiti Menswear on Duval.

The fourth on the list is yet another cheap but goodie found in the pages of an Avon catalog. The rainbow colors of the numbers is a subtle way of coming out while checking the time!

Last but not least is a Fabulous Find from a Flea Market from many years ago. Wanting a Cartier watch early in life and not being able to afford one, I saw this Fabulous copy and still like the look to this day.

Be sure to “watch” for part 2 coming soon!
